Unique Driving Tuition has been conducting ADI Training for over 19 years. In that time, we have tutored many students who have become fully qualified Approved Driving Instructors (ADI).

Our trainer Mark Kelly has achieved a lot in his career as an ADI and is probably one of the most recommended trainers in the North East.

Below are just some of Mark's achievements and qualifications:

• Grade 6 ADI
• Passed the Cardington Grade “A” Test for ADI’S at the DSA Training Establishment, Cardington, Bedford.
• Holds the D32 and D33 NVQ in Driving Instruction
• Passed the Diamond Advanced Test
• Passed the Institute of Advanced Motorist Test
• Passed the ROSPA Advanced Motorist Test

Many driving schools now offer Instructor Training. Before selecting a driving school, it is important that the following questions are considered:

• What Grade are the instructors who will be conducting your training?
• How long has the trainer been doing the job? (Some ADIs are training others before they have even been check-tested!)
• What additional qualifications does the trainer hold apart from his green badge?
• Can the school provide testimonials by students who have passed?
• Can you contact the students direct to ask for more unbiased information?
• Will the training be One-to-One?
• Can the cost be paid hourly?
• Are you entitled to a refund?
• What study materials will be included in the cost?
• Finally, is the trainer highly recommended from all around the country?

All the above questions are essential in helping you to make your decision about the training you are going to receive. About the ADI exams

To qualify as a Driving Instructor you will need to pass three exams (parts).

Part one consists of 100 multiple choice theory test and a hazard perception test questions.
Unique Driving Tuition will provide you with all the recommended study materials to pass part one. We also provide you with software to monitor and test yourself for the theory test and the hazard perception test. This means you will be more than ready to sit the test and be confident to pass first time.

Part two is all about your driving ability.
To be a good Driving Instructor, you need to be able to drive at a very high standard. Unique Driving Tuition will have no trouble getting you to that standard. Remember, our trainer Mark Kelly currently holds a Grade 6 for his instructional ability and techniques. He will of course demonstrate the standard the DSA is looking for. He will then use his expertise to get you to the same standard. All training is one-to-one so your lessons will be fully dedicated and at a pace that suits you.

Part three is the Instructional Ability Test.
The DSA Examiner will role-play two learner drivers. The first learner driver will either be a beginner or partly trained, we call this Phase One. You will need to introduce the subject chosen by the examiner followed by a short briefing. You will then talk the examiner through the subject whilst correcting any mistakes that they make.

During Phase Two, the examiner role-plays a learner driver who is trained and near to test standard or a full licence holder who needs their driving assessed and corrected. For this phase you will introduce the subject and assess the driver whilst correcting any faults. Mark will give you the confidence to teach and correct faults as well as develop a high standard of instructional techniques. All subjects and methods will be personally demonstrated by Mark, so at the end of your training you will be more than ready to teach real learner drivers. Unique Driving Tuition will also provide you with all the necessary instructional diagrams needed to teach a learner driver.

About Our Course

Part one  is a home study course.
This is preceeded by a two hour in-car assessment. We feel it is important to assess your driving when you start part one of your course. This means we can be correcting any bad habits that you may have in preparation for part two.

Parts two and three are all in-car training.
Some of the larger training establishments offer in-class training. We feel in-car training is the only way you will get to the high standards needed to pass the exams. Cramming students in to a class room for hours on end is a cost-effective way of producing driving instructors. Not for you... but for the company training you. Mark has worked for these companiess and felt that their methods were only benefiting the company and not the student. That’s why we will only conduct in-car training and only ever on a one-to-one basis.

Our UNQIUE In-car CCTV

Something else we are very proud of is the in-car CCTV system developed by Mark himself. This is part of what makes us unique! The training vehicle has 4 cameras recording the drive, driver and instructor as well as the vehicles following. This allows Mark to replay the footage for demonstrations to highlight your strengths and weaknesses and help you to develop faster. It also allows Mark to freeze the footage of the drive to show you the particular lanes, roundabouts and various junctions that you will need to learn for part two of your test.

Residential Course

Unique Driving Tuition can now offer residential courses for Parts 2 and 3.

So if you live too far away to travel each day for your training, we will arrange for you to stay at a local Hotel, which is very near to Newcastle City Centre. We will start training each day at 9.00am until 12.00am and 2.00pm to 5.00pm with a 2 hour lunch break. We will then drive you back to your Hotel so you can have a meal and relax to prepare for the next day's training.

Maybe you will want to discover Newcastle City Centre or visit Gateshead's Metrocentre, where there are hundreds of restaurants, shops and cinemas to choose from. Maybe bring your partner to see the local sights whilst you train during the day.

Part 2 requires a one night hotel stay and 10 hours in-car training. This cost is £345.00 and includes the Hotel cost and an evening meal at the Hotel.

Part 3 requires a six night hotel stay and 40 hours in car training. This cost is £1295.00 and includes the Hotel cost and evening meals.

We can pick you up and drop you off at Newcastle Central Station, Newcastle Airport or Newcastle Coach Station if you prefer not to drive. This allows you to arrive fresh and ready for your training. Please contact us for more information.

Check-Test Training

Have you had a check-test yet? Have you been given a low grade? Or did you qualify a few years back and feel that you would benefit from some extra training?

Our trainer can either observe you delivering a driving lesson or offer to role-play as your learner.
